Hey Everyone,

I had received a question regarding whether or not we should put a "stop date" on contributing, and if so when should it be?

I for one agree there should be an end date.  Without one, members wouldn't have a goal on when to contribute, and may forget about it, which could lead to the project never being completed!  We are more than half-way there already, which is an incredible sign.

I may send out another email blast to all the members urging them to contribute, if they can.  If we do have a set date relatively soon, we can have the more ambitious members fill the gap, cooperation willing, of course.

I personally would like to end the contribution phase sooner rather then later.  Ideally I was looking at end of Oktober, seeing as we will have to wait 5 weeks for the completion of the manufacturing process.

I would like to get some feed-back from the members about a date they were considering as a "stop date" for contributing.  Please, post, e-mail or IM me with your ideas so we could discuss it!

I appreciate all of your help and feedback, and hope to finish this phase of the "Lilium Project" soon!!

Donations seem to be going slow so I took the liberty of donating again...

Is there any plans to allow larger donations in the near future?

I'd like to donate a larger amount than $20, but I'd also like to purchase more than one music box...

Should I just set up multiple accounts for each one I want?

Daniel Brierton:  As of right now, I'm going to keep a cap on contributions, that way I don't get a lot of people trying to donate large amounts and then having too much to pay the initial fee.

I'd also like to clarify for you that this is for the MECHANISMS themselves right now, NOT the box.  I'm still working on getting the box produced, but I make no promises from myself or Sankyo.  Being said, when time comes to order, you can order as many mechanical mechanisms as you'd like without having to sign up for alternatve accounts.  You don't need to contribute a piece of the fee for each mechanism you plan on buying.

I hope that answered your questions!  If not, please feel free to email me at liliumbox@gmail.com and I can further answer your questions.

Ignipotent:   Thanks once again for your contributions, we appreciate your willingness!!

Sorry, yeah, I meant mechanism and not box...

As for the rest, that's great. I'll donate now  And will have 2 more peoples (at least) on board by the end of the week.

Thanks for getting this project off the ground, I think I can speak for everyone when I say we all appreciate your commitment to the Lilium Project

Daniel Brierton:  Haha, don't apologize, it's alright.  I just wanted to make sure you knew exactly what the "Lilium Project" details, that way you aren't dissapointed if you were expecting a box!

Thanks for recruiting, and for considering contributing!  Without those two key elements, the "Lilium Project" would not have even left the brainstorm pocket lodged in my brain.   I'm hoping to see use breach 100 members by sunday...I think they'res the distinct possibility that is going to happen.

Also, you're welcome...it's nice to hear that people appreciate this project.  I'm quite passionate about the project, and I hope that is reflected through my dedication and commitment.  It's good to know my work isn't going unappreciated...I just hope all of my members are also equally as passionate and happy about the "Lilium Project"!

Well stromnova you requested some feedback concerning and contribution end date. I personally feel like a end date. and the end date you mentioned around the end of octobre seems a good date to me, since when all the fundings are gathered and the production is complete we are in the first week of decembre. And i woud love to have the mechanical part under the cristmas tree.

So I hope this will involve more members in making this step to donation.

One last serious question. if we don't have the fundings on the end date, what will become of this project? Will it end and everybody gets there fundings back or will we continue with the knowledge that we didnt have as much enthousiastic members to donate before the deadline.

You also said something about a donation cap? Does that that everybody who crossed their breakdown price cant donate anymore?

But as some other enthousiastic members of this board already said, i totally agree with them, Thanks alot for this project.

Greets,

Sjefke

P.S. Excuse me if I used some strange words that doesnt really fit in the context. I wasnt born english and all my knowledge comes from school and they dont learn me everything. So i hope my text was readable, if you have any tips on how to use certain words better please let me know.

Sfefke:  I'm happy to hear that a few people are liking the idea of the end-date being around the end of Oktober, I would be excited if we could receive these by Christmas time.

ON the serious note:  a week and a half before the end date, I will make contributing "open season", meaning that those who are willing to donate more in order for us to reach our end-goal will be allowed to do so out of their own free will.  I can not promise anything special to these incredible individuals, except for my deep and earnst gratitude.  I will not let this project end abruptly, and if we need to wait it out to collect the remaining funds, I will do so.  I will finish this project.

The donation cap is just for these "first round" contributions, meaning that if you've donated your maximum amount, you will be allowed to send in more contributions when "open season" starts up, in order to fill in the gap.  Everything is non-profit for me, so I have no way of showing my gratitude towards gracious contributors other than my deepest thanks.  When this time comes, I will make a large announcement.

On that note, we need to figure out soon whether we'd like the end-date or not, since the end of Oktober is near.

You're welcome, Sjefke...I hope this project brings as much joy to each member as I know it will bring to me.  That's why I won't let it die!

Also, don't worry about your english, it is perfectly comprehensible and I have no problems understanding you!

Thanks for the great questions, I hope this helps you and other members out!  If you need any more information, feel free to contact me!

soul4soul: Don't forget, this is just the mechanism and not the box itself. Hopefully getting the box done will be possible after the mechanism is finished and sorted. I'm gonna attempt to make one, or find someone local that could make it for me

Okay, I contributed too now. I really want this. But I want some tips for a box. I know you keeping us updated Stromnova with the chance of them making one, I´d buy that automatically, cause I don´t know how to "install" this mechanism into an empty box, besides I don´t know where to find empty music boxes to buy either, can anyone lend a hand?

I have just donated, and would also prefer to have a readily made music box instead of just the mechanism alone.

Actually there is a custom-made music box service in my area, charging around $50 for the box + a 30-note mechanism of Lilium. The problem is that their boxes are too fancy and girlish to be put on my desk. I would rather prefer a plain one that resembles its anime counterpart. However, decent boxs I have seen from major companies like Sankyo starts from $100: too steep for my pathetically tiny piggy bank.

If Sankyo can recreate a close replica of the music box in the anime,  I think the $65+7 estimate stated in the recent update is a really fair amount.

Keep up the good work.

Doraneko:  I would also like to know more information about a 30 note mechanism of Lilium?  I did not find this in my search, and that looks like a Sankyo mechanical mechanism. The box says it plays "Love Again", so I'm assuming that it's not "Lilium".

To Everyone else:  I am doing the best I can about the box.  It's looking like it would be around $65.00 USD, but there would also be a creation fee incurred to have it produced, similar to getting this mechanism made.  They said that it would be an almost near replica of the Elfen Lied box.  I'd also like to note that the boxes pictured above are actually Sankyo boxes.  The 340x325 was a wood grain basis Sankyo considered for our project.

For the 30-note lilium box in my local area, as  I have been on friendly terms with the owner there and apparently someone has ordered Lilium from them before ,  they are willing to exempt me from the mechanism design fee. But the problems are:

1. The boxes available for choosing are too fancy, as I mentioned before

2. It is a very traditional handmake stuff workshop and the people there know neither English nor the internet, so online ordering stuff fromthem is out of question.

3. Not sure if they are really willing to exempt the initial creation fee if they are dealing with clients instead of friends. The current lilium mechanism available is a by-product of the design process after all and there is only one of them left there.

Indeed the pictures in the last post are the Sankyo boxes (not the fancy boxes I said - those are really fancy, with frills, horses, balls... just imagine a design trainwreck), but found in a place called Orgel House of the Izu Orgel Museum . I found them decent, but was shocked at the price tag of ¥16800 (with a note saying that Sankyo offers the same boxes for like ¥21000...  ). So yea $65 is a really competitive price and I will gladly pay the amount if I can get a box exactly like those in the pictures.

Doraneko:  Thank you for that information, I can see why I didn't find them!  It's good to know they don't make them on a massive-scale basis, I now now that what we are doing still makes plenty of sense and will a good investment, as many boxes can be made and shipped all over the world, for less than what a private producer would charge!  Thank you for all of your investigative work!!

Not at all. It is me who should be thankful .

Getting a a real Lilium box is like a dream coming true for every EL fan. Before hearing about this project, I have done extensive research on all possible options, but most of them are less than satisfactory, either in terms of price or in terms of quallity.

But hardcore fans never compromise :p. That is why I am very appreciative of all the time and effort you have put into this project, which allows us to get a close replica at a fair price.

Anyway hopefully we can finish the contribution phase and move to the next phase very soon!
